A basket of roses

Spring has arrived. With it the desire to have a cake that says spring inside and out.

This cake was made for a book club meeting. It was a white cake with raspberry filling decorated in butter cream.

The sides of the cake were done in a basket weave and a rope technique was used for a handle. Then the basket was filled to overflowing with three different color roses. The pink roses are done with a technique that allows the edges of the rose petals to be a different color than the rest of the flower's petals.  

The cake was enjoyed by the book club!
